Tire Rotation Service
Different wheel positions place different demands on your tires. A suitable rotation schedule helps distribute wear while creating an opportunity to review tread condition and identify concerns that need attention.
Request a Tire Rotation AppointmentWhat is a tire rotation?
Tire rotation moves tire-and-wheel assemblies between permitted positions on the vehicle using an appropriate pattern. The pattern depends on the vehicle, tire design, wheel fitment, and manufacturer guidance.
Rotation helps manage position-related wear. It does not restore worn tread, repair damaged tires, or correct an underlying alignment or suspension problem.
The correct pattern starts with the fitment.
A standard cross-pattern is not suitable for every vehicle. Tire markings and front-to-rear compatibility must be considered before the wheels are repositioned.
Directional tires
Directional tires must retain the specified rolling direction. Their permitted rotation options differ from those of non-directional tires.
Staggered fitments
Different front and rear tire sizes or wheel specifications can restrict rotation options. Some combinations cannot be rotated conventionally.
Vehicle requirements
The owner’s manual and tire guidance help establish the pattern and interval, including whether a spare is eligible for use in the rotation.
How often should tires be rotated?
Follow the applicable vehicle and tire maintenance guidance. Interval recommendations can vary with fitment, operating conditions, and observed wear.
Do not wait for a routine interval if something changes. New vibration, rapid wear, pressure loss, or visible damage needs assessment rather than an automatic rotation.
Uneven wear deserves an explanation
Some variation develops because of a tire’s position and use. More pronounced wear can involve pressure, alignment, component condition, or other factors.
Moving a tire to another position does not address those causes. Inspection may identify a separate service or repair requirement.
More than swapping wheel positions.
The agreed service should account for tire condition, permitted placement, pressure settings, wheel installation, and any applicable monitoring-system requirements.
Review fitment and condition
Confirm tire and wheel compatibility, directional markings, tread condition, and the permitted pattern.
Reposition eligible assemblies
Move the wheels according to the appropriate pattern and applicable installation procedures.
Set pressures and complete required procedures
Adjust pressures for the new positions where required and perform any applicable TPMS position relearn.
Document the visit
Record the service mileage and discuss wear findings or recommendations requiring follow-up.
Understand what the service does.
Is tire rotation the same as balancing?
No. Rotation changes wheel positions on the vehicle. Balancing corrects weight distribution within a tire-and-wheel assembly. Balancing is not automatically included with rotation.
Does a tire rotation include wheel alignment?
Not automatically. Alignment measures and adjusts wheel geometry. It is a separate procedure that may be recommended if wear or handling concerns warrant it.
Can every vehicle have its tires rotated?
No. Different tire sizes, wheel specifications, directional designs, or other fitment restrictions may limit or prevent conventional rotation.
Can rotation fix existing uneven tire wear?
It cannot restore missing tread. Rotation may help distribute future wear when appropriate, but the underlying cause of abnormal wear still needs attention.
Will my tire-pressure sensors need resetting?
Some vehicles require a position relearn or another procedure after rotation; others identify positions automatically. Follow the vehicle-specific requirements.
Should a temporary spare be included in the rotation?
A temporary-use spare is not intended for routine rotation. A full-size spare may qualify only when its specifications, condition, and applicable guidance permit it.
How much does tire rotation cost?
Pricing depends on the vehicle, fitment, and required procedures. Confirm what the estimate includes, especially any additional balancing or inspection work.
What information should I provide when booking?
Share the year, make, model, mileage, and any tire or wheel modifications. Mention known staggered fitment, directional tires, vibration, or unusual wear.
